
General Rules (Revised Feb 2026)
- Membership card and an Environment Agency Licence must be carried at all times when fishing club ponds, (you will be asked to leave or turned away without them).
- Junior members under 14 years must be under close supervision of an adult at all times while they are at the ponds. Double size platforms are available and their use is strongly recommended for safety. Juveniles are not allowed to fish peg 22.
- No fish are to be taken from the ponds
- No fish are to be transferred from either pond
- Members with dogs should keep them under close control at all times.
- No fires allowed.
- No swimming.
- All juveniles to leave ponds 20 minutes before dusk.
- No night fishing (dusk till dawn) and in any event not between 10pm-5am.
- No litter to be left at or around the ponds. Throwing it into the undergrowth is not acceptable!
- Members are responsible for litter at their pegs and should remove it no matter how it came to be there.
- Members must have an approved disgorger and landing net with them when fishing.
- Fishing is allowed with one rod only (others may be set up but must be facing away from the water).
- Ground bait, pellets, particles and boilies are limited to 1lb (500g) and 12mm. per person per day. No limit on "natural" baits such as casters, worms and maggots. Meat baits should be limited to four "normal" size tins.
- Barbless hooks only to a maximum size 8, no pinched barbs.
- All tins are barred from the banks.
- Spinners and artificial lures are banned.
- Members must at all times do all they can to protect and preserve wildlife.
- Keepnets are banned to protect our fish (except in approved matches)
- Members must adhere to the Environment agency's rules and fisheries bylaws as per rod licence. Full details of the rules can be found on their website. www.environment-agency.gov.uk
- Meetings are held on the third Sunday of every month at the South Kirkby Colliery Social Club at 7.00pm prompt.
- To avoid rubbish being dumped on the site the gate must be kept locked at all times.
- Members must sign their membership cards as soon after receiving them as is practical.
- Because of the harm they can cause to the fish bolt/tether rigs are banned, all leads and feeders must be free running on main line with no stops above them. "Safety" Leads are not allowed.
- Bait boats are not allowed on the ponds.
- Pre-baiting of swims is not allowed.
- Bloodworm and Joker is not allowed.
- Key deposits must be claimed within 12 months of ceasing to be a member of the Angling Club. After that the £5 deposit cannot be claimed back.
- Alcohol and illegal drugs are not allowed at the ponds as per WMDC rules. Other rules as per WMDC fishing licence, a copy of which can be seen at the monthly meetings.
- Anglers must be no further than 4 metres from a rod in use at any time.
- The Committee reserve the right to suspend or cancel the membership of any angler persistently breaking the rules. Persistently is deemed to be 2 or more offences.
- Rule books must be displayed on car dashboards.
- Feeding allowed from one peg only
- No gardening without prior consultation and permission from the committee.
- No Peg Hopping once an angler has chosen a peg.
- The use of braided hook lengths is banned.
- Proof of having a valid rod licence is required to renew membership or to apply as a new member
- On match days NO pleasure anglers are to go to pegs until the match has started
